Duties

  • Provides psychological expertise in preventing and detecting insider threats, motivations, and identifying psychological behavioral problems.
  • Provides case consultation services to help Insider Threat Hub analysts, investigators, and Army leaders and commanders understand and contextualize concerning behavior presented to the Army Insider Threat Hub.
  • Collects data from a variety of sources (organization, security, law enforcement, counter-intelligence, behavioral health, and human resources) and integrates findings and formulates clinical interpretations and diagnostic considerations.
  • Develops individualized, comprehensive behavioral science risk/threat assessments.
  • Defines, develops, and continually refines the behavioral clinical consultation process.
  • Coordinates with the medical and behavioral science community for legally available medical and behavioral information and assessments relevant to insider threat.
  • Conducts complex innovative research to resolve critical operational scientific problems.
  • Formulates new theoretical, conceptual frameworks to derive research objectives and testable hypotheses.
  • Develops training courses on preventing and detecting insider threats, motivations, and identifying psychological behavioral problems.

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entrance on duty, subject to exceptions as required by law.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Basic Requirements for Psychologist:

Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: collecting data for clinical interpretation, developing comprehensive risk assessments, coordinating operational research, and formulating hypotheses utilized to prevent and/or mitigate insider threat or risk. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
