You will perform a wide variety of routine ordnance equipment trade tasks involved in the maintenance, overhaul and conversion of a wide variety of types and sizes of ordnance equipment components and in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing projects.

* Working on clear-cut work orders and instructions, working from blueprints, schematics, drawings, sketches, and specifications.

* Installing, overhauling, modifying, and repairing defective mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic elements of ordnance equipment such as MK 75 76MM and MK 38 25MM guns and mounts, 50 caliber mounts, and CAS ANT MK53.

* Assembling, adjusting and testing individual parts, subassemblies and complete units, using gauges, meters, and intricate test equipment.

* Measuring operating characteristics of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic elements.

* Maintaining, modifying and operating the testing and measuring instruments and apparatus and constructing special mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical units and jigs, using hand tools, blueprints and service manuals.

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:

1) Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREENOUT)

2) Knowledge of equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc.

3) Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)

4) Use of measuring instruments

5) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)

6) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment

7) Troubleshooting

This is a temporary promotion NTE 1 year, but may be extended up to 5 years total and may become permanent without further competition.
