Duties

As the IT Specialist (APPSW/ENTARCH) in this position, you will:
  • Help develop web applications for various enterprise software projects
  • Design, test, develop, and deploy production-ready applications
  • Write reusable, testable, and efficient code in Python
  • Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
  • Collaborate closely with developers and managers
This is a developmental position leading to the full performance GS-2210-13 level.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.

Requirements for the GS-11: Have at least one full year of IT related specialized experience that demonstrate each of the following competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. This must include activities such as: (1) assisting with documenting, modifying, and testing new or existing systems applications; (2) drafting revised IT policies, procedures, or strategies; (3) supporting the development of methods or approaches for sharing information through the use of IT systems; (4) working with others to communicate technical requirements across organizational lines. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors).

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

Requirements for GS-12: Have at least one full year of IT related specialized experience that demonstrate each of the following competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. This must include activities such as: (1) analyzing, implementing, or translating system requirements into application prototypes; (2) documenting and evaluating new applications of software technologies; (3) developing and interpreting strategies and policies on delivery of services throughout the agency; (4) assisting with thorough application of technical requirements across the organization. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors).

Requirements for GS-13: Have at least one full year of IT related specialized experience that demonstrate each of the following competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. This must include activities such as: (1) testing applications to ensure software systems quality and functionality; (2) recommending strategies that may improve IT policies and programs; (3) planning and designing systems architecture to include writing, debugging, or code maintenance; (4) providing technical advice on critical enterprise architecture issues. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors).

In addition, you must provide a cover letter describing your experience with the competencies identified below:

Attention to Detail-Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service-Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication- Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving-Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Information Technology Architecture- Knowledge of architectural methodologies used in the design and development of information systems, including the physical structure of a systems' internal operations and interactions with other systems.
Software Testing and Evaluation- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing software test and evaluation procedures.
