Duties

  • You will direct maintenance, repair and construction for the maintenance needs of the facilities, to include but not limited to the following trades: carpentry, wood craftsman, mason, sheet metal, painting, and roofing.
  • You will be required to work from blueprints, sketches and oral instructions given by the supervisor and to perform work in related trades alone or in union with others to accomplish jobs.
  • You will be responsible for identifying materials and equipment required for job assignments.
  • You will be required to respond to emergencies, breakdowns and disrupted utilities on a 24 hour basis, (stand-by as directed).
  • You will plan work, selects tools and materials and completes work with little or no check during progress or upon completion.
  • You will test equipment after repairs are completed to assure proper operation.
  • You will determine own work methods, plans sequence of work and determines what repairs need to be made, and is responsible for overall accomplishment of the work and for testing the systems after repairs are completed to insure proper operation.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed from ladders, scaffolds, and pits, and in other places which are hard to reach. The work requires standing, stooping, bending, reaching and working in tiring positions.
  • Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
