An Overview
The Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services utilizes a comprehensive approach to deliver effective and essential safety net services to help low-income Alexandrians measurably improve or maintain their quality of life. The Workforce Development Center is part of this continuum of services, developing, implementing, and maintaining a workforce ecosystem to meet the employment and training related needs of businesses and low-income residents. This work is done in partnership with divisions within the Center for Economic Support inclusive of the Office of Community Services, Customer Service and Benefits Programs as well as other economic mobility, social and behavioral health services offered in DCHS, City departments, and community agencies.

The Division Chief for the Workforce Development Center performs supervisory and administrative management work in the Department of Community and Human Services. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of strategic and operational workforce/employment initiatives and related Benefits Programs. The incumbent is responsible for the integration of the American Job Center partners in the Center and ensures that the Center operates best in class using analytics and innovation and provides excellent programing and resources to residents. Tasks include representing the agency at Federal, State, regional, and local meetings and providing staff support to the Alexandria Commission on Employment and the Workforce Development Coalition. The incumbent exercises initiative and independent judgment in performing the tasks of the position under the general supervision of the Director of the Center for Economic Support.
