Selected candidates will work on a diverse team which includes APL and government laboratory technical subject matter experts, government sponsors and operational Navy personnel to plan, analyze, and design naval tactical systems to solve critical mission needs and provide impactful systems. Analyze and study complex operational and mission needs. Explore and decompose high-level mission needs into functional and architectural models of a system. Work with the government team to develop and validate system requirements Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate mission and warfighter needs into technical specifications. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of operational and warfighter requirements into total systems solutions that incorporates technical, schedule, and cost constraints. QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have a Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or other engineering discipline. Have 3+ years of professional experience in systems engineering and/or MBSE experience Have experience in early concept development, developing system requirements, performing functional analysis and allocation, and conducting trade studies in support of the design, development, and evaluation of complex systems. Have a strong understanding of how system requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities are enabled by MBSE across the engineering lifecycle Have experience with the application of SysML and UML and applying this common structure to an MBSE solution using MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, or Rhapsody. Have experience using and/or writing custom scripts and/or plug-ins for MagicDraw modeling software and DOORS requirements software. Have familiarity with industry MBSE tools and modeling methodologies to successfully produce systems engineering models Have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong critical thinking skills. Have shown the ability to interact effectively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams, including industry and government sponsors. Ability to travel up to 10% as needed. Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Have an advanced degree in systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or other engineering discipline. Have direct experience applying aspects of MBSE in support of system development. Have led an MBSE team for a complex system. Have experience integrating physics-based models with a SysML-based system model. Have experience with hardware development Have experience with software development and familiarity with developing visualizations of complex data. Have relevant Object Management Group (OMG) or other systems engineering certifications. Have worked with modeling frameworks such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or Unified Architecture Framework. Have expertise using and/or writing custom scripts and/or plug-ins for MagicDraw modeling software and DOORS requirements software. Have familiarity with Navy acquisition programs. Hold an active Top Secret clearance.
