Learn more today at www.KnorrBrake.com! JOB DESCRIPTION: Application Engineer will perform the duties as required to support site and customer, as assigned by Operations Manager. In addition, will provide support required to ensure root cause analysis of failures of a difficult nature. Perform system commissioning support. Ability to understand system logic and diagnose faults. Regular interface between technicians and engineering, acting as a conduit between customer and Company. Must possess in depth knowledge of related equipment. Regular report writing will be required. 1 Support EVAC with technical projects. 2. Contact for all technical questions of our customers. 3. Support development and design departments (knowledge of country-specific requirements for rail vehicles). 4. Clarification of detailed problems with suppliers and customers in consultation with the responsible team. 5. Analysis and engineering processing of the assigned tasks or problems. 6. Recording of various possible solutions for decision-making for further procedure and discussion with the engineering team. 7. Supporting customers in the field and in the office (focus on field service in US). 8. Carry out repairs and tests on vacuum toilet systems and assemblies as required. 9. Processing of customer orders and complaints. 10. Participation in Failure Analysis Investigations, preparation and product adaptations to local conditions. 11. Conducting customer training (instruction) in-house and on-site at the customer's location. 12. Carrying out retrofits and upgrades at the customer's site. 13. Travel required 50% of the time. Technical Skills: 1. Be familiar with typical Transit Authority rules/regulations, technical specifications, and standard rail Industry workmanship requirements. 2. Familiar with FRA regulations as they relate to KB supplied systems. 3. Must be able to use electrical/electronic measurement tools (oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) in the field. 4. Must be able to utilize Knorr portable test units and service terminal software proficiently in the field. 5. Must do "hands-on" and remote trouble-shooting, 6. Must be able to read and interpret logs generated by Knorr equipment at an expert level. 7. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. 8.
