Position Summary / Scope of Responsibility:The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LLC (CAO) is one of the nations largest Orthopaedics practices, owned and operated by physicians, with over 60 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. CAO is committed to be the Orthopaedics provider of choice for our patients; partner of choice for payors and health systems; and employer of choice by attracting and retaining a talented workforce.The Medical Office Receptionist provides the first positive and caring impression for patients arriving at or calling one of the busy Divisions at The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics. The Medical Office Receptionist provides outstanding customer service by greeting patients promptly and in a welcoming manner, either in person or over the phone. The incumbent prepares the patient for their visit and ensures that all information for that visit, including for billing, is accurate and complete.Primary Responsibilities:The Medical Office Receptionist may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this job description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values, and Operating Principles of CAO. The identification of essential functions and responsibilities below is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties that may be assigned to this position, nor does it restrict the duties which may be assigned to this position if such duties reasonably relate to the position.Exhibits strong customers service skills in all interactions with CAO patients, CAO team members and all others with whom the incumbent interacts.Obtains and handles with confidentiality required Patient Health Information.Determines, discusses and collects patient balances.Schedule patients in coordination with the patients and providers schedules.Understand and verify insurance eligibility, including plan specific requirements.Performs daily collection and other reconciliations.Other projects and duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.Reporting Relationships:The Medical Office Receptionist reports directly to an assigned Divisional leader. The role currently does not have any direct reports.Requirements, Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent.At least 1 year of medical office experience.A combination of relevant education and experience that equates to the requirements above may be considered.Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products as well as electronic medical records.Competencies / Required Skills and Abilities:Strong Interpersonal Skills - Ability to develop relationships and collaborate to achieve assignments.Confident and critical thinker who will seek input to ensure accuracy.Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with a proven track record of results.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
