The school's social and academic culture follows the rigorous standards for excellence as set forth by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).Dedicated Aide Position DescriptionUnder the direction of the Guide, Elementary Coach, and the Student Support Coordinator, the Dedicated Aide will assist with specialized instruction and related services for primary-age children with emotional disorders, autism, developmental delays in one or more areas, intense behavioral challenges, multiple learning problems, and other related disorders. The Dedicated Aide will assist their assigned student throughout the school day by making the curriculum and daily activities accessible for the student. This position will be based at our East End Campus in Anacostia.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport Student(s) with Special Needs throughout the School DayAssist the student with participation in lessons, daily activities, and assessments.Facilitate independent work with materials in the Montessori environment.Support lessons under the direction of the Guide and the Student Support Coordinator in the resource room and class.Implement prescribed behavioral strategies and positive behavior support in all settings.Accompany and assist student(s) during related service sessions (speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc).Collaborate with Teaching Team and Special Education TeamCollaborate with the Coach, Guide, and Student Support Coordinator in the planning and management of lessons and work that the student will be doing independently and with support.Provide regular communication about students' development to the Guide.Works with the teaching team to ensure the classroom contains sufficient supplies and materials for individualized instructional supports.Keeps other members of the classroom teaching team, appropriate service providers, and families informed of progress and challenges regarding the student.Assist in Data Collection and Record-KeepingParticipate in all training related to data collection and assessment.Gather written observations and input them in Transparent Classroom and Teaching Strategies GOLD as requested by the Guide.Discuss observations with the Guide and other teaching staff.Participate in IEP Meetings.RequirementsCovid-19 full vaccination required.Have a firm commitment to upholding Lee Montessori PCS' mission.Possess a minimum of an Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree preferred.At least 2 years of classroom experience, preferably in a public or urban setting.Willingness and availability to attend relevant onboarding training during the summer.Compensation and BenefitsLee Montessori PCS offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
