We are seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to provide onsite leadership and technical contribution to enterprise database services. As a Senior SQL Server DBA in the Information Technology Services Department you will Provide operational leadership for the SQL Server Services Team, including guidance and mentoring to team members, integration of projects to operational planning with oversight for tasking and prioritization, and quality control over deliverables. Establish direction for the SQL Server service, including design, planning and implementation of infrastructure and capabilities, aligned with cost, schedule and risk management. Perform hands-on administration for SQL Server clusters and databases, including analysis of requirements, troubleshooting, configuration and monitoring for availability and performance, robust backup and recovery, monitoring and deployment of patches and upgrades, and customer support. Engage with internal communities to understand business needs, and external communities to stay abreast of current trends and upcoming features, including maintaining a solid relationship with vendors. Provide visibility to the organization for the current and future state of services and capabilities, supported by presentations, architecture diagrams, root cause analysis, and technical documentation. Work occasional night and weekend hours, when required, for infrastructure implementations and project support. QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, related technical field or equivalent professional experience. 8 or more years of experience administering SQL Server databases in a production environment, with increasing complexity and responsibility. 3 or more years of experience leading technical teams. A solid understanding of database hardening to meet rigorous security and compliance standards. Demonstrated technical expertise with Microsoft clustering, Microsoft Windows operating systems, and ability to write procedures using TSQL and PowerShell. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with system users, internal customers and developers. Exceptional analysis skills to triage and diagnose complex problems involving multiple infrastructure tiers and operating conditions. A current DoD 8570 certification (Security+ or CISSP), or ability to obtain DoD 8570 certification within 6 months of employment. The ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret or Top Secret level clearance within 6 months of employment. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. The ability to demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have: A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related technical field. Experience with SQL Server 2016 and higher. Experience with Microsoft Windows 2016 and higher. Experience with MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS PBIRS), Integration Services (SSIS) and Analysis Services (SSAS). Experience with Quest Spotlight and LiteSpeed applications. Knowledge of high availability solutions, such as failover clustering, always on availability groups, and hypervisors Knowledge of common storage and networking architectures Knowledge of security practices, including STIGs, SQL Audit, database encryption, SSL and Kerberos. An active Secret or Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
