Responsibilities:Underwrites credit applications according to Mariner Finance lending policy and extends credit to branch and online customers through a variety of lending programs; stays up to date with the lending policy and any changes that are made.Originates, reviews and approves online loan applications; reviews denied loans for possible counteroffer and funded loans for completeness of documentation.Responsible for the retention and maintenance of existing accounts as well as developing awareness of other sales/service activities.Assists the Central Credit Manager with administrative work for existing and potential customers; completes reports, initiates contact with customer at Manager's direction to acquire additional financial information and communicate/resolve issues.Approves exceptions to policy as authorized by Central Credit Manager based on nature of exception, customer needs and related factors.Provides service to internal and external customers as needed, and resolves service and policy related situations for customers with exceptional timeliness, accuracy and professional courtesy.In manager's absence, coordinates functions and daily operational issues through communication with Vice President of Centralized Credit.Responds to high credit limit exception approvals when necessary.Assists in on-boarding and training of new Centralized Credit staff.Conducts peer-review of lending decisions.Additional duties and responsibilities may apply. Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related discipline. Additional financial services industry experience can be substituted on a year-by-year basis for college coursework.Minimum of three (3) years of experience underwriting personal loans.Knowledge of lending and fair practice and ethics in consumer finance required.Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.Strong decision making and problem solving skills.Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended period; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds.
