Leave & Benefits Specialist

The Leave & Benefits Specialist for Brightview Senior Living will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. The Leave & Benefits Specialist works closely with associates throughout our portfolio of senior living communities in 8 states to respond to benefit related questions, resolve issues, and serve as liaison with third party providers to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions, enrollments, and terminations. The Specialist will partner with internal departments such as payroll and finance in the management of benefit plans and reporting on benefit related metrics. What will you be doing : Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave. Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use. Maintains reasonable communication with associates on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work. Facilitates leave accommodation/modified work arrangements with Associates, Managers and HR Business Partners. Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files. Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws. Reviews and approves associate benefit enrollment and change requests in benefit system. Assists with reconciliation of benefit accounts. Ensures that new associate benefit files are complete and accurate. Transmits data to third party benefit providers to establish, update, and terminate associate's records; audits to ensure accuracy Assists associates in the research and resolution of eligibility, claims, and other benefit related questions and issues. Why we want you on our Team: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. HRCI-PHR, HRCI-SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus. Two years of experience in leave and benefits administration with knowledge of human resource laws and regulations. Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, State Mandated Leave, and other applicable laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills , including the ability to comfortably interact with associates at all levels of the organization. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Intermediate Excel skills a must. Ability to work with strict deadlines in a high-volume environment. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively in English.
