Promises Kept.MUST HAVESHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 3 years of mortgage lending experience with 1 year of underwriting exposure, or equivalent combination requiredFHA DE and VASAR (LAPP) certificates preferredKnowledge of standard underwriting practices, procedures, and guidelinesDemonstrated ability to calculate self-employment incomeAble to read and interpret various loan documents such as promissory notes, regulatory and legal directives, and other loan documentsAble to apply basic math; calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentagesBasic computer skills required: word processing, Excel spreadsheets, email, and mortgage softwareWHAT YOU WILL DOResponsible for approval or denial of conventional mortgage loans based on adherence to company, investor and FNMA/FHLMC requirementsAccurately underwrite a minimum of 2-3 new loan files per day, volume permitting, to determine whether buyer, property and loan conditions meet SPM and investor standardsEvaluate complex loan scenarios, loan applications, inspection reports and financial reports to assess financial risk, including potential fraudRequest additional information when needed and set loan conditionsReview and sign off on underwriting and closing conditions as they are metRespond to originator/processor questions regarding loan programs, clarification of loan conditions and status of loans in processSubmit loans through the appropriate AU system and validate findingsUse thorough understanding of products/requirements to provide consultation regarding viable loan alternativesWork with vendors to order appraisal and mortgage insurance-related itemsPerform other duties and/or mortgage related tasks as assigned by managementWHAT WE VALUE - OUR PILLARS OF SUCCESSDo the Right Thing - Always.
