Duties

As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG 2610 12/13, you will perform but are not limited to:
The primary purpose of this position is perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems. Complete operational checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) which are linked with integrated systems and LRUs which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems. Review and analyze maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections. Advise Aerospace Engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) modifications on new or existing equipment. Troubleshoot operational malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, data analysis, common and system-specific test equipment and built in system tests. Perform on and off-equipment maintenance on systems such as automatic flight control, instruments, communication, navigation, and inertial navigation. Coordinate back shop bench check (if applicable, completes testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units (SRUs). Conduct aircrew debriefing to determine the nature of system malfunctions. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the DC Air National Guard.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies. Thorough knowledge of principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory. Ability to interpret and trace schematics, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

To credit work experiences gained from completing the compatible AFSC technical training school program, the applicant must submit technical school certificate(s) and student evaluation(s) to support/verify AFSC work experiences and skills performed while attending the applicable Air Force technical school(s).

WG-12: Candidate must have at least a three-skill level in one of the compatible AFSCs, with 12 months of work experiences.

WG-13: Candidate must have 36 months specialized experience in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To qualify an applicant for one of the FWS Series 2610 ANG Dual Status Technician positions, apply and evaluate the applicant's competencies, military and civilian experiences, completed education, learned skills, obtained knowledge, endorsed abilities, and training program accomplishments. The following seven basic qualification factors are applicable to the FWS ANG Dual Status Technician positions:
  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes
  • Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material
  • Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving

Other Qualifications
To initially qualify and prior to appointment, an applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.
To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must have the physical capability to stand, climb, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and stoop over extended periods of time.
As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must complete the hazmat certification within six months of employment and complete hazmat recertification every two years.
As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must maintain the position's mandatory AFSC skill level and continue on-the-job proficiency requirements.
As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee requires routine access to classified Secret material or similar environment. For award and retention of a compatible AFSC, the employee must have a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management. The employee's clearance reinvestigations must be opened prior to the expiration of his or her current investigations.

Education

ANG ENLISTED: To qualify an enlisted applicant for hire consideration into an ANG Dual Status Technician FWS 2610 position, award of the compatible Air Force Specialty Code, Craftsman Seven Skill Level; Journeyman Five Skill Level; or, the Apprentice Three Skill Level, with the position's compatible unit position assignment and a high school diploma, are mandatory requirements. Completion of high school courses in physics, algebra, trigonometry, and computer principles is desirable. Higher academic college courses and degrees that are aligned within the FWS Series 2610 type of work tasks are also desirable.

For the WG-2610-12 ANG Dual Status Technician positions, the mandatory military training requirements are the completion of an Air Force Three Skill Level Technical Training School and successful On-the-Job training that will result or resulted in the award of a compatible Five Skill Level AFSC.

For the WG-13 ANG Dual Status Technician positions, the mandatory military education requirements are the completion of an Air Force Seven Skill Level Technical Training School and awarded a compatible Seven Skill Level AFSC, along with the successful completion of at least one military professional education course program.
