Masten Space Systems is enabling sustainable access and utilization of the Moon, Mars, and beyond. We've been building and flying reusable rockets for nearly two decades with the most successful rocket-powered landings in the industry. We work directly with NASA, defense, and commercial customers to develop the tech it takes to break down the barriers to space. We're now on a mission to land on the Lunar South Pole - the first of many Masten missions to unlock the value in space for humans on Earth.Join our team of space pioneers, rocket scientists, and business heavyweights to add "landed on the Moon" to your resume. Together, we'll make wild napkin ideas possible by taking them from the lab, to the test site, and all the way to the lunar surface and beyond. We are looking to add an Electrical Hardware Engineer to our team who has "cradle to grave" experience with full-lifecycle complex electronic hardware design. This position will have made more than just incremental updates to a design and have experience going from initial requirements captured, through the schematic capture, PCB layout, DFM/DFT and product V&V and release process.Ideal candidates will have backgrounds at newer EV companies or come from high-volume automotive and consumer electronics backgrounds. Aerospace background is not required as long as candidates exhibit a basic understanding of the unique elements involved in designing avionics for hostile environments.Note: This is a remote role, being on site as needed, 5% or less of time. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Full-lifecycle board design from requirements definition to schematic capture and layout Board-level design acceptance and verification Supporting subsystem-level integration and testing (Hardware-in-the-loop, final spacecraft integration of flight hardware) Owning an entire subsystem and providing support through flight operations Designing or supporting the design of test hardware to help fully characterize flight hardware behavior Key Requirements: Proficiency in PCB layout software (Altium preferred) Good understanding of analog/mixed-signal design principles Experience in at least one prior position with "cradle-to-grave" board design (ie not just incremental updates to legacy designs) Working knowledge of industry-wide best practices (Design for Manufacture/Test, DFx - Design for Excellence, High Reliability) Solid grasp on grounding and signal integrity fundamentals Detailed knowledge of EMC/EMI including test creation and execution Reliable and effective communication skills Desired Skills & Experience: Solar panel and MPPT knowledge and experience Understanding of aero/MIL standards relating to PCB/PWB design and parts reliability (IPC-2221, MIL-PRF-31032, NASA-EE-INST-002, AEC-Q100/101/200) Experience working with motor control and/or power electronics (gate drivers for IGBT/MOSFET) High-speed (SERDES, PCIe, Ethernet, USB 2.0/3.0) design experience Professional Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. An applicant who is not a "U.S. person," as that term is defined in US export control regulations (22 CFR120.15), must be eligible for authorization from the US Department of Commerce and/or the US Department of State to receive hardware and/or technical information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations, 15 CFR 730-774, and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulation, 22 CFR120-130. Offers to non-U.S. persons may be contingent upon authorization from the Department of Commerce and/or the Department of State to access controlled information.Powered by JazzHRXx4ZPrTn77
