The Inspector General (IG) is appointed by the President, with the advice and consent of the Senate. The OIG is responsible for conducting audits, inspections, investigations, and special reviews related to NRO programs and operations; providing leadership with recommendations to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; preventing and detecting fraud, waste, and abuse in NRO programs and operations; and providing a means to keep the DNRO and the Congress fully and currently informed of issues concerning fraud and other serious problems, abuses, and deficiencies in NRO's programs or operations.The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for Audits leads the NRO OIG Audit Division. The AIG manages the translation of higher-order operational goals and objectives into more tangible and concrete objectives, plans, and priorities. The AIG manages a budget of expendable resources and subordinate elements according to established strategic priorities. Current NRO Cadre employees may apply to this vacancy announcement.What You Will Be DoingThe NRO Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for Audits exercises direct management responsibility for the entire range of OIG audits and special reviews, exercising direct operational management over a diverse staff of professional auditors, both government and contractor. The incumbent serves as the NRO Inspector General's principal advisor in the oversight of NRO acquisition programs and processes, information technology and security, and financial management activities, to include financial reporting.The AIG for Audits performs his/her work in an independent manner, assuming a high degree of personal responsibility for sound judgment and decisions. Plans, directs, coordinates and manages independent financial and performance audits and special assessments of NRO activities in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards. Provides direction, expert professional advice, consultation, and guidance and recommends appropriate actions in all matters pertaining to personnel, administration, OIG policy and audit procedures. Serves as a member of the OIG senior management team.As the Assistant Inspector General for Audits you will be required to:Manage a staff directly and through subordinate supervisors to include reviewing staff products for quality and clarity, monitoring productivity and timeliness, ensuring financial and personnel resources are deployed in accordance with OIG priorities.Interact with senior officials within and outside the NRO in regard to audit issues, including contacts with members of the Intelligence Community Inspectors General Forum and committees, Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, Congress, and other government entities.Participate in the OIG corporate management team focused on OIG resources, production, planning and the development of overall policies and procedures. Keeps the Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General routinely and fully informed of the status of audits in progress.Represent the Audit Staff on the OIG Career Service Board; ensure accurate and timely feedback and evaluations and provide guidance on career development issues. Ensure employees receive appropriate professional training and necessary tools.What You NeedRequired: Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting which may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.ORCombination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. This SOCQ involves the ability to integrate resources, information, interests, and activities effectively in support of the IC's mission and to lead and leverage cross organizational collaborative networks to achieve significant mission results. Inherent to this Standard is a deep understanding of the Intelligence enterprise (or other comparable interagency or multi-organizational environment) and a shared commitment to the IC's core values.
