RESPONSIBILITIESThe Accounting Manager manages and performs all general accounting functions and ensures accurate and timely monthly and year-end close. The Accounting Manager is responsible for obtaining and maintaining a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of all companies supported. Specific general accounting functions include but are not limited to: general ledger entries and account balance maintenance and validation, payroll and accounts payable, Responsibilities include supervision and development of support staff. Additional support will include data gathering and addressing inquiries for all company audits, data gathering for annual tax submissions, state sales tax status and scheduled state submissions, as well as any other support required within the Accounting Department. Monthly Close: Maintain and manage close schedule. Ensure all tasks are completed on time and validate accuracy. Payroll: Responsible for accurate and timely processing of all company payrolls; includes setup and maintenance of systems and records used for payroll processing. Confirm accuracy of all payroll related offline calculations such as partial salary payments, PTO payouts, retroactive payments, stipends. Certified payroll reporting when contractually required. Verify accuracy of OT hours recorded and other special pays. Verify agreement between financial and payroll systems for each payroll. Support internal & external payroll related reporting and tracking requirements. Review and sign-off on payroll journal entries.Accounts Payable: Responsible for accurate, complete and timely processing of all approved vendor invoices and employee expense reports. Investigate and resolve all voucher discrepancies. Manage annual blanket PO's; initial qty and unit values, monthly vouchers and mid-year adjustments if needed. Responsible for organized maintenance of all AP related backup and reporting files and year-end reporting.Employee expense reports. Verify accuracy prior to posting. Tracking and reconciliation of all company paid charges. General Ledger: Responsible for month-end journal entries, as well as maintenance and reconciliation of balance sheet account schedulesCash: Responsible for daily recording, posting and tracking of cash transactions Monthly bank reconciliation review and signoffAssist with month-end indirect cost review and validation.Maintain all fixed assets and the depreciation schedulesData gathering and issue response/resolution for external audits and reviews (financial, 401K, worker's comp, etc.)Perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree preferred. Four years of experience in this subject area may be substituted for the degree At least 8 years of experience in general accounting.At least 5 years experience in Government contract accounting/financeABILITIES REQUIRED:Must possess the ability to review, evaluate and suggest appropriate resolutions to complex accounting issues. Must have a thorough understanding of the government contracting industry and associated regulations and requirements, specifically as related to accounting functions. Ability to apply this knowledge to daily operations is essential.Must be detail oriented and organized with an ability to ensure accuracy and completeness of all processed or reviewed financial transactions Customer service oriented. Capable of providing outstanding service to external and internal customersExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.Firm understanding of US GAAP Experience with the following software preferred: ADP, Deltek products.
