Responsibilities: We have an ongoing need for an Aerodynamics Engineer SME to support the DARPA Tactical Technology Office (TTO) in Arlington, VA.Duties will include but are not limited to:Providing a range of support within your area of expertise and experience, to the Government Program Manager, in developing and implementing an ongoing Science and Technology (S) program Providing oversight and engineering management of activities related to the derivation of aerodynamic design requirements from top-level performance requirements, conceptual, preliminary and detailed aerodynamic design, development of aerodynamic databases using various analytical methods, wind tunnel and flight test planning and executionWorking closely with the Government team throughout the life-cycle of the program, including coordinating with the upper management of all stakeholdersPerforming independent technical reviews of performer efforts, providing design and process improvement recommendations Aiding in the development of new tools, techniques, and processesReviewing acquisition related documentsDevelopment and engineering design reviews and readiness reviewsManagement of verification efforts for key performance objectivesGround testing, flight tests or simulationsPost-test analysis activities and review and analysis of test dataPreparing briefs and meeting minutesReviewing and providing recommendations for CDRLs and other documentsResponding to official requests for information and other tasks from Government clients and stakeholdersAdvising Government clients on incoming technical proposals and white papersDiscussing new ideas for Government programs with researchersTracking the progress of contracted researchers on their Government programs, including independent testing, and eventual technology transition to end usersParticipating in key intra- and interagency meetingsWorking in a dynamic team environment, interact with performer and customer senior-level management10 15% travel may be requiredWork will be performed on-site Qualifications: REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibilityBachelor of Science (BS) degree preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related field (Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline or field preferred)Minimum of 15 years work experience, with at least 5 years in subject matter expert or engineering leadership positionsDemonstrated record of technical achievement on flight vehicle programs such as guided rockets, cruise missiles, or aircraft An expert understanding of aerodynamic design principles and their application on missile systemsExperience with flight vehicle conceptual and detailed design, CFD analysis, wind tunnel testing, and flight testingExperience with systems flying in transonic and hypersonic flight regimesAn understanding of flight performance and 6-DOF modeling and simulationFamiliarity with MATLAB, FORTRAN, C, or similar high-level programming languageDemonstrated experience on multidisciplinary teams on large, complex, multi-phase programsWorking knowledge of the Department of Defense research and development and acquisition processesDESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience with hypersonic aero-thermodynamicsPrior experience as a SETAPrior experience at DARPAPrior experience with programs related to national defenseAbility to prepare and present technical and programmatic information for diverse audiences Experience developing plans, budgets and schedules
