Based in the Baltimore, Maryland area, this exciting contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be involved in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.Responsibilities- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives- Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner- Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll- Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision- Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed- Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP- Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation- Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics- 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases- Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills- Foundational knowledge in Entering Invoices- Deep understanding of bank reconciliations- Command of Credit Card Reconciliations- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)- Blackbaud experience is a plus- Adeptness in Financial Edge is a plus- Spreadsheet and database capabilities- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines- ERP system experience- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirementRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
