Peraton serves as a valued partner to essential government agencies, including NASA, the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and the Department of Health and Human Services.The Thermal Technician will workwith flight projects with NASA test engineers,and Facility Engineering to plan develop and execute Thermal Vacuum tests using the environmental test facilitiesat Goddard Space Flight Center.Candidate Duties and Responsibilities Include:Primary duties are to operate all thermal vacuum facilities and associated equipment in Lab 7 & 10Candidate will learn to perform thermal transitions per procedure on space flight hardware under the guidance of a lead technician.Candidate will operate the environmental test data acquisition system, thermal conditioning units and other test equipment as directed by lead personnel or supervision.Responsible for supporting set-up activities which include preparing a vacuum chamber for testing (pre-start), hooking up support equipment (thermal conditioning units and data systems), taking cold finger samples, performing safety inspections, facility cleaning and other routine tasks as directed by lead personnel or supervision.Position may require use of cranes, forklifts, and aerial platformsWork EnvironmentMust be able to follow complex procedures, plans, techniques, designs, or layouts.Must be able to work independently taking instruction from senior personnel t maintain high quality of testingWorks from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, cranes, suspended platforms, etc.Works while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or in a prone position for extended time periods.Works in confined spaces.Ability to adapt to changing shifts, weekend and holiday support on short notice and extended hours as requiredQualificationsBasic QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED is required.1 year of experience working in a lab or production environment.Proficiency with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).Proficient in the use of basic hand tools.Preferred Knowledge2 years of experience operating and troubleshooting test equipment in a lab or production environment.Experience operating thermal vacuum chambers.Proficiency using computer interface (HMI/SCADA) to operate mechanical and electrical equipment.
