WHAT YOU'LL DOWe are seeking exceptional candidates with experience and passion to take on the high-stakes role of Product Manager for BCG's Retail Catalyst platform and suite of apps. Building cloud platforms and front-end functionality is an integral part of BCG's strategy to develop digital client service offerings to deliver quality analytics and create superior client value. The Retail Catalyst team is responsible for creating, maintaining, and commercializing a full range of retail analytics apps, all the way from initial idea and roadmap setting to coding, testing, launch, and ongoing support. Throughout the development process, we place high value on user centricity and work in very close collaboration with BCG consultants, our clients, and the Marketing & Sales practice area. The Retail Catalyst team is operating as a "start-up within BCG"A' of highly driven team members who will provide you with an opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial, leading-edge-tech, environment supported by a global management consulting firm which is the world's leading advisor on business strategy.The Product Manager will play a critical role in BCG's agile requirements definition and product development process, acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and the development team. You will have lots of ownership and freedom to set your own priorities. The work will happen in daily collaboration with the Client Delivery Lead and Tech Lead, supporting the overall management of the team, as well as client demos and prototypes. You will also cooperate closely with business stakeholders in order to capture business requirements, build UI/UX mockups, ideate with engineers, run discovery workshops, map user personas and journeys, define data and workflows, write use cases / stories, facilitate SCRUM ceremonies, plan sprints, and run acceptance tests. constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications/features/user stories/non-functional requirementsTranslate business requirements into mockups using industry leading UI/UX design toolsWork with product analysts on the initial wireframe creation and validation of wireframes with consultants, data scientists, and clientsConvert low-res wireframes into higher fidelity mockups using Sketch and InvisionSuggest new tools/approaches to UI/UX design processFocus on 80/20 and generating UI/UX MVPs rapidly, to be iterated laterRun the dev team's agile processesCreate user stories with both functional and non-functional acceptance criteria that detail the needs for each mockup/screen/processConduct Story Writing and Story Review sessions with engineers, explaining retail concepts and supporting documentation (mockups and stories)Prioritize and sequence sprint plans, generating user stories with associated mockupsFacilitate and participate in User Acceptance Testing and product release documentationEngage in daily standups with developersKeep engineering team accountable for deadlinesHave opinions and make decisionsTranslate technical issues and limitations into constraints that can be easily understood by business stakeholdersSuggest paths forward based on knowledge gathered from engineering teamHelp make tradeoffs with supporting information on timelines/constraintsVoice opinions confidently and influence Retail Catalyst leadership in product decision makingCommunicate and connect across functional teams to accelerate product roadmapSet and confirm project timelines across many clientsIdentify dependencies and potential risks across clients; ensure stakeholders are informedGenerate a working knowledge of Data Science, Data Engineering (Database, schemas, compute), DevOps, Visualizations, and additional components of the stackPartner with customer success managers to shape and prioritize features to satisfy client asks, while keeping repeatability and scalability in mindConduct client-facing sessions to train users, ask questions to users, and document user needs and challenges with the productYOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)REQUIREDBS/BA Degree in software engineering, business, or related field; or MBA with experience in software tools development and / or analytics5 years of experience in consulting, product and/or software tools development environmentsExcellent verbal and written command of the English languageExperience in a multi-product environment employing agile principlesUI/UX Skills and a track record of turning ideas into real software and/or productsAbility to create high fidelity mockups that enable abstract business / retail conceptsEmphasis on getting to an MVP quickly (as opposed to pixel perfect design)Other preferable skill areas:Knowledge of tools such as Tableau, Dataiku, AlteryxKnowledge of retail business processes (Promotion Planning, Category Assortment, Shelf Pricing, Markdowns, Vendor Negotiation, etc)NICE TO HAVE:Experience with Python/PySparkExperience with MPP platforms like Snowflake and BigQueryExperience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Luigi, etc.Good understanding on visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBIExperience with version control, CI/CD, etc.YOU'LL WORK WITHOur product managers and business builders work with our clients and colleagues in developing new digital ventures and products from planning to launch.
