As a Health Technician, GS-0640-07,you will perform the below duties:

you will serve as the subject matter expert on Individual Medical Readiness (IMR). Generate medical management information reports for the Battalion/Squadron and staff. Develop and provide regular/recurring IMR reports to subordinate units to support the scheduling of annual medical readiness requirements. Review, validate, and forward requests for temporary and/or permanent medical actions to include profile determination and medical boards (e.g. fitness for duty evaluation (FFDE), military occupational skills/medical retention board (MMRB), medical evaluation board/physical evaluation board (MEB/PEB). Monitor the execution of all medical readiness events (military and civilian) to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations and that required documentation is submitted to facilitate payment. Monitor the posting of updated information derived from annual and recurring medical requirements (e.g. periodic health assessments (PHA), required immunizations, dental exams, physicals exams, profiling requirements) and other directed medical readiness requirements. Will be the subject matter expert for continuing education/certification requirements for enlisted medical personnel and combat lifesavers. As a member of the command readiness inspection team, collect data and/or information used in the evaluation of individual medical readiness. Ensure subordinate unit personnel maintain medical records in accordance with Army regulations/instructions and other established guidelines. Provide guidance and assistance to subordinate unit personnel in the completion and maintenance of medical readiness information required for individual mobilization packets. Advise the Battalion/Squadron staff on manual and automated medical record management programs relative to documentation, regulations, directives, and organizational readiness reporting requirements. Assist in the recruiting and retention activities of the organization. May assist with a variety of administrative/clerical support functions to ensure the effective operation of the office.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Per Centers for Disease Control, you are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the final dose in your vaccination series.
  • You must provide proof of vaccination, or an approved medical/religious exemption (or application) at orientation.


- All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT - E7/SFC),currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT - E7/SFC) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel: (E1/PVT - E7/SFC)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Musthave at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS 06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS 06 grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
(1) Working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems.
(2) Experience involved in performing or assisting with a varied range of health or bio environmental activities
(3) Experience interpreting various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs
(4) Experience Maintaining Medical Records.
