Duties of Mechanical ContractorsOn most projects, mechanical contractors are heavily involved in the coordination of all trades, making collaboration (both with other specialty contractors and within their own organizations) vital to the success of a project. They must also be cognizant of time and budget obligations and must finish all the mechanical elements on time and within budget so as not to delay other trades (or the project as a whole).This position would be responsible for the following: *Sending our bid request to selected vendors for bid opportunities*Up dating vendors and subcontractors with bid addendums as they are received*communicating with vendors and subs to ensure timely receipt of quotes prior to bid time*Updating the bid documents in the company electronic file*Maintaining the bid schedule But what does this look like day-to-day? For mechanical contractors, responsibilities may include:Managing staffDelegating tasks to team membersMonitoring resourcesOverseeing the full scope of electrical construction and maintenanceIt's important to note that while many mechanical contractors self-perform work, some also subcontract out work to third-party businesses.
