We have worked in the local market for the past 30 years and established a physical office in 2010. You will be leading mechanical design and coordination for a variety of building projects. Our team works on local and non-local projects like academic buildings, institutional and government buildings, museums, laboratories, commercial offices, and data centers.HVAC System Design Requirements and ResponsibilitiesSound knowledge in mechanical engineering, including:Proficient in load calculations and ventilation calculationsExperience in low carbon and zero energy design, such as geothermal system, load shedding by thermal mass, natural ventilation, etc.Track record of sustainable, low energy and innovative approach to design including projects designed to achieve LEED certificationDesign mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controlsPrepare contract drawings, detailing the designed systemsWriting of project reports and specificationsEngage with contractors for pre-construction and construction support activityPresent technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiencesFamiliarity with codes, specifically CMR, IMC, ASHRAE standards 55, 62.1, 90.1Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architectsExperience in commissioningExperience with 3D BIM software and/or advanced analyzing tool such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Heat TransferUnderstanding trends and standard methodologies in the DC marketTeam Building & Project Management ResponsibilitiesResponsible for project management, including day-to-day financial management on medium or large projects.Maintains good relationships with existing clientsAttending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with themBuilds a climate of trust and openness in the team, develops individuals in their technical specialization, and delivers timely feedback and recognition to othersRequirements:Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Mechanical/Architectural Engineering10 or more years of related experience and a consistent record of mechanical system design for buildings which incorporates the goal of sustainability.PE required, experienced engineer of record preferred; NCEES preferredLEED Accreditation, WELL Certification, or ASHRAE BXCP Certification; LEED AP BD+C preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skills crucial for team-based workingThe ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and outstanding organization skills required for our constantly evolving environmentBenefits that Work - At Arup, we have a comprehensive and valuable benefits program that works for our employees and their families while keeping costs low.
