Requisition ID: 249123Requisition Posting End Date: 01/27/2022Our Manager of Government Affairs represents Bechtel at various organizational levels of the United States government; to foreign governments through their embassies; and to Washington, DC- based professional and trade associations. Provides direct marketing and business development assistance to all Bechtel business units. Acts as Bechtel Washington Office liaison to Congress, US Department of Defense, US Department of Energy, US Department of State and US Department of Commerce with a desire to grow personally and professionally.Responsibilities:Representative to Bechtel Global Business Units and Washington office liaison for Bechtel M&BD managers.Represent Bechtel to designated policy organizations, trade groups and professional associations on all manner of US business policy, as well as on treaties and agreements that impact business in the international arena.Represent Bechtel to the Department of Defense as it relates to acquisition, O&M and contracts.Primary Bechtel Washington liaison handling treaty provisions associated with US State Department and US Department of Defense on matters under the control of those departments, including defense trade, procurement, and chemical demilitarization treaty requirements.Washington Office representative to Congress, State Department, Commerce Department, Departments of Energy and Treasury on matters dealing with energy policy and regulations, including international treaties and sanctions. Responsible for tracking policy and providing recommendations from Bechtel business perspective.Regulatory "A cents € Maintain regular oversight of key regulatory issues affecting Bechtel business lines, especially energy and environmental policy.Washington Office liaison on matters related to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), DOE Office of Fossil Energy, EPA and Department of Interior.General Liaison Washington Office representative for policy meetings with designated sector business councils.Basic Qualifications:Level 1: Bachelor's Degree in business administration/management, political science, public policy, or related field and a minimum of 10 years work-related experience in a corporate government relations environment with international business, preferably in the engineering or construction arena.Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in business administration/management, political science, public policy, or related field and a minimum of 15 years work-related experience in a corporate government relations environment with international business, preferably in the engineering or construction arena.Strong familiarity with corporate compliance requirements, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and international trade policy.Excellent knowledge of political, legislative, and federal agency processes.Awareness of political sensitivities/insight; possesses tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment. Exceptional customer service orientation.Enthusiasm and ability to train, motivate, and mange colleagues.Exceptional customer service orientation.Self-starter willing to take initiative with outstanding interpersonal skills.Team player who seeks to become an integral part of an active government relations team.Ability to work with staff at all levels of the corporation.Ability to work under pressure of shifting/competing priorities; ability to follow through with multiple projects; ability to multitask independently.Excellent communication skills; written and oral.Strong organizational and time management ability; and attention to detail.Solid research, presentation and analytical skills.High level of creativity and openness to new programs and technologies.Willingness to travel.Preferred Qualifications:Senior level experience in legislative, corporate government and business affairs environment interacting on a state and federal level.Knowledge of sustainable development in a corporate environment.Project management experience.Advanced degree (public policy or law degree), or more than 15 years of experience working in corporate affairs, legal affairs and public affairs in the engineering and construction industry.Extensive knowledge of the legal framework and business principles in the engineering and construction industry, especially with respect to defense and energy extraction policy.Shaping tomorrow togetherBechtel is one of the most respected global engineering, construction, and project management companies.
