Currently based in 23 schools throughout Washington, DC, we provide behavioral health services and train the next generation of youth leaders in social emotional literacy, arts expression, and conflict transformation and support them to create positive social change and healing in their communities. Over the past 19 years, we have impacted over 32,500 youth and families, trained over 11,500 teachers, hosted over 81 public concerts and performances, and recently were awarded the Mayors Arts Award for Excellence in the Humanities.Our Community-Based Behavioral Health Program continues this mission by serving DC Youth, school communities, and school families through art-expressive centered mental health services.About YouTo support a newly launched program in response to community gun violence, funded through the Building Blocks DC Program (https://buildingblocks.dc.gov), we are looking for dynamic Program Associate who have experience with, and a passion for, working with youth in a community-based setting. Our program will be working to provide supportive healing for youth who are primary and secondary victims of violence. Staff will work closely with community organizations, schools, teachers, and parents to support youth and their families.The Program Associate is a position that focuses on non-profit program management, program development, program evaluation, and community organizing. This position offers great opportunity and investment for growth within the non-profit organization One Common Unity.RESPONSIBILITIESProgram DevelopmentAssist in developing evaluation measurements for OCUs programs;Add updates to the curriculum;Assist in PD development and implementation, as needed;Support to build community partnerships, particularly with stakeholders, parents, and educators;Research and development of program design, feasibility, and implementation;Research organizational best practices for our programming;Develop opportunities to help OCU expand programs and projects.Program Coordination & ManagementPlan and support implementation of crisis intervention, social-emotional learning programs and other youth related activities;Support communication between schools, facilitators, program staff, students, parents, and partnering organizations;Identify and coordinate new community partnerships;Supervise, monitor, and evaluate Program Interns, Volunteers, and/or Fellows;Coordinate program scheduling;Ensure attendance, weekly reports, and receipts are turned in by staff;Ensure that youth records are properly maintained and kept confidential per HIPAA. This includes ensuring that files are complete and up to date in the OCU database and file sharing system;Support grant reporting requirements, as needed;FacilitationFacilitate Fly By Light and other youth programs, as needed;Coordinate trips and assorted activities for the program;Engage and work with youth on-site and in person with our programs.REPORTINGThis position reports to the Program Director.QUALIFICATIONS IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:Self-motivated, organized, willing to help with any project;Have a strong desire to make a difference, a passion for OCUs mission, and a positive attitude;Exceptional interpersonal skills;A deep understanding of, and experience with, cultural humility-based, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive approaches to youth work;Engages in anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks regarding organizational culture (peer relationships, supervisory relationships, etc.);Strong written and oral communication skills;Mature judgment, discretion and professionalism in communicating information and determining reliability of sources;The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with attention to detail;CPR and First Aid (WFA); Mandated Reporter training, DCPS clearance, FBI background check, and NSO registry clearance required before first day of work;OCU follows DC Government and DC Public School guidelines on vaccination and requires healthcare workers to provide proof of vaccination or a qualified exemption. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear both in person and over devices. The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients. May be in situations which require conflict resolution.
