Every day, through careful review, permitting and inspection of site and building construction, our staff protect the health, safety, welfare, and environment for those who live in, work in, and visit Fairfax County. Our department also serves as the gateway to much of the county's economic development, reviewing over 30,000 building and site plan submissions, issuing nearly 70,000 building permits, and conducting over 220,000 building and site inspections each year. Under the supervision of the Chief of Facilitation and Addressing Center (FAC) this position assists in the review and processing of minor plans, development plans, waivers, proffers, to ensure accuracy and compliance with all Codes and Regulations. Coordinates plan conditions prior to plan approval and prior to bond release. Calculates proffer amounts and development condition amounts due. Serves as team member for new and existing development projects and acts as a liaison to stakeholders. Assists in the management, resolution and processing of plan conditions and proffer compliance and enforcement on all projects. Researches and reviews lot validation requests and coordinates with Department of Planning and Zoning. Develops and presents recommended course of action to resolve project issues and proffer non-compliance. Provides subject matter opinions of land development process. Communicates land development regulations to contractors, developers, engineers, sureties, other governmental agencies and citizens.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to: high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus four years of engineering technical support work.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and a driving records check to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong customer service skills
Two or more years of experience in land development
Two or more years of experience working with construction customers
Telework experience
Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
Research and communication skills applicable to land development
Ability to read and interpret construction documents

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift heavy items/plans up to 50 lbs. with assistance; to retrieve and file documents; to crouch, bend, stoop, and twist upper body to maneuver in work station; and the ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to walk/traverse rough, icy, broken terrain; go up and down steep hills and slopes and drive a vehicle. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
