The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Business Analytics Supervisor to be a part of one of the most highly-regarded park systems in the country. This position manages data analysis, performance measurement, and business intelligence capability for key agency initiatives and priorities. As the leader of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics team within the Park Authority Business Office, performs advanced-level data analysis, develops capacity for internal and external reporting, and coordinates data preparation. Creates complex data models, analyzes business practices, and identifies gaps/trends/patterns in data. In coordination with Park Authority’s business units, establishes performance indicators and develops strategic and financial business plans. Creates data visualizations, reports, and presentations and communicates findings to a variety of audiences.

The assigned functional areas of this position are: Data analytics, Performance measurement, Business Administration, or Management.

  • Independently designs, develops, and coordinates ongoing department programs and special projects;
  • Performs a wide range of professional-level management work for more than one broad administrative function including complex analysis and diverse project management in a lead capacity;
  • Coordinates and manages the work of administrative, para-professional, and/or professional-level staff in the day-to-day activities of selected projects. Plans, organizes, and coordinates changes to the policies, procedures, or processes related to multiple administrative functions (financial, procurement, budget, human resources, contract or grants administration, information technology systems, etc.);
  • Plans and conducts or oversees studies or research activities to ensure program quality, determine unmet needs or ensure efficacy of existing programs;
  • Provides guidance, recommendations, and advice to departmental managers;
  • Serves on committees, task forces, and management teams to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing management/administrative systems;
  • Writes, edits, and finalizes reports and presentations and presents findings and recommendations to department senior managers.


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lead assigned employees, including delegating and reviewing work assignments, providing coaching and guidance, monitoring and evaluating performance, and supporting training and development planning.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in field related to the assigned functional area; Plus four years of professional work experience with in the functional area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience working with various business intelligence software and reporting tools, including Microsoft Power BI and Tableau.
  • Experience creating data models, knowledge of data transformation and data management.
  • Experience conducting business and financial analysis and creating performance measures.
  • Experience presenting complex information to a variety of audiences.

Driver's license (required)

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date.
