Duties

  • Serves as principal investigator for Electro-magnetic Interference imaging, non-destructive testing and analysis and TEMPEST ICT equipment design, analysis, evaluation and deployment.
  • Coordinates the work of laboratory Signal Analyzers, overseeing installation of antennae and collecting data to perform mathematical calculations. Applies advanced engineering and scientific discipline concepts to scientific investigations.
  • Determines optimum utilization and application of Division's finished products. Personally performs or works with site engineers to ensure that specific equipment is produced, evaluated and certified in accordance with Division instructions.
  • Establishes liaisons and coordinates with high-level engineers in other U.S. Government (USG) agencies to deploy and implement Division systems and processes.
  • Prepares equipment design objectives for study groups and interested equipment manufacturers. Serves as Contractor Officer Representative (COR) and/or Government Technical Monitor (GTM) for study, prototype and production contracts.
  • Coordinates equipment design contracts with vendors and national laboratories, and works closely with successful bidder to eliminate study, design and fabrication deficiencies.

Applicants MUST meet the required basic entry qualification requirements described below:

BASIC REQUIREMENT:

A. Have an undergraduate or higher level degree from an accredited college or university in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that INCLUDED 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Have education equivalent to one of the majors shown in "A" above that INCLUDED at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, PLUS appropriate experience OR additional education.

IN ADDITION to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements listed above, the applicant MUST have at least one year of specialized experience that has equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience developing TEMPEST Test Plans, and performing laboratory TEMPEST test data collection procedures, data analysis and Technical Report Writing.
  • Experience with Electro-magnetic interference imaging to enhance security initiatives.
