Come join us and help shape the future!This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Team Lead to support our robust and growing Bridge Inspection Practice in the Southeast Region! This position will ideally be located in Atlanta, GA but could potentially be operate out of any of our Southeast locations, such as Charlotte, Nashville, Knoxville, Columbia, Tampa, Orlando, Miami, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Virginia Beach, Arlington, Baltimore or Washington, DC. Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, improvement, and/or construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. tasks may include assisting with the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures. Substantiates reports and documentation regarding material, installations, and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.Your ImpactThe Team Leader shall, under limited remote supervision while in the field, and by merit of his/her education, licensure and relevant work experience, perform independent, scientific evaluation of the condition state, function and load carrying capacity of bridges and their individual components, as compared to their original design state and/or current standards. Such routine evaluations must necessarily include discretionary judgment and application of advanced engineering principles. Such judgments may form the basis of recommendations to bridge owners for repair, rehabilitation or replacement.Plan, schedule and perform bridge inspections in accordance with the requirements of specific Bridge Owners, but in all cases, in compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and the AASHTO Manual for Condition Evaluation of Bridges.Review, create, and compile all required inspection reports and plan field operations.Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Perform professional structural engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities.Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Who You AreRequired QualificationsBS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.5+ years of experience in bridge design and/or bridge inspection.NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges courses.Must successfully complete and pass WSP"s Motor Vehicle screening.Engineer in Training Certification.Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.Working knowledge with process and concepts for sustainability, and reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas.Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (ie, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS), technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPs health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Preferred QualificationsSPRAT Certified Rope Access Level 1 - 3Additional FHWA/NHI Training - Fracture Critical and Ancillary StructuresNICET certification at level IV or other applicable certification is preferred.Masters Degree in Engineering.Experience managing small to mid-size projects.40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.#LI-KB1Additional RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
