The Vice President of Finance is an executive level position who oversees all financial matters for an organization, including annual audit, payroll and analyzing market trends. The VP of finance includes supervising the finance and accounting department and must be detail-oriented, efficient with process management and project management. As a CPA, this individual is able to perform day-to-day accounting while being able to think strategically as it relates to budgets, strategic plans and more. Daily activities include maintaining the organization's books and records as well as developing and generating financial reports required by colleagues and the Company Board of Vice Presidents for governance purposes. Annually, this person performs staffing and non-staffing budget forecasting, completes the annual audit and develops the fiscal year budget. Must have grant experience and non-profit accounting experience plus a strong knowledge of QuickBooks and a proven track record in managing finances in a rapid-growth, changing environment. This person will supervise a staff that handles volunteer & staff reimbursements, payables, purchasing while also helping being forward looking in developing forecast models based on business intelligence and market forces. Adeptness with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Zenefits, Expensify, ADP, and be willing to adapt to new technologies and manage processes . Accounting and Financial ReportingManage capital requestsWork with CEO to Oversee the annual audit by independent auditing firmCreate the annual expense and revenue budget and forecasts in collaboration with the CEOPrepare budget versus actual reports, including planned revenue vs. commitments and planned vs. actual spendingPrepare internal and external financial reports, Company Board materials, monthly financial analysis materials Develop and produce reports and records that are compliant with all state and federal requirements including 2 CFR Part 200 and OMB Circular A-133Prepare internal and external financial reports, monthly financial analysis materials, and Board of Vice Presidents materials including P+L Statement, Cash Flow analysis, Budgeting, General Ledger reviewManage the implementation of accounting tools (QuickBooks, salesforce, paypal, expensify, ADP, Zenefits.)Lead coordination of the annual audit and tax filing including prepare all schedules for audit and ensure financial records are accurately prepared prior to the audit, Develop, implement and provide meaningful and flexible financial reporting and information to all relevant stakeholdersPrepare, execute, and record organization payroll with ADPAssist CEO in preparing long-term strategic plans and resource allocation processesSupport grant development and reportingDevelop and lead training for staff on policies, procedures and tools used in financial managementLead coordination of reviewing and updating accounting policies as neededDevelop and maintain revenue reporting including conditional, restricted and unrestricted revenue streamsSupport Company staff in interpreting and understanding budgets and financial reportingEffectively communicate financial operations and cycles to Company staffRisk ManagementUnderstand and mitigate key elements of the organization's risk profileMonitor any legal issues involving the organization or affecting the industryMaintain appropriate insurance coverageEnsure the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirementsEnsure that record-keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agenciesReport risk issues to the audit committee of the Company BoardMaintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendationsSupervisory ResponsibilityManage & coach the staff that handles day-to-day accounting and finance functions including AR, AP, deposits, reimbursements, credit card expenses & payroll. Manage & coach the staff that performs day-to-day accounting functions to assure up-to-date financial information and timely financial reporting on a month, quarterly and annual basis as well as periodic ad hoc reporting including general ledger, A/P, A/R, reconciliations, revenue, etc. Manage & coach the staff that processes expense reimbursements for both staff and volunteersLead development of other ad hoc reports and projects on an as-needed basisResponsible succession planning and development of staffQualifications/SkillsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field strongly preferred; CPA required5+ years experience in nonprofit accountingExperience managing funds according to OMB A-133Project ManagementProcess ManagementGrants reporting experienceStrong knowledge of QuickBooks accounting softwareAbility to manage tasks, prioritize issues, execute work in an efficient and timely manner and track and manage multiple work streams at onceAbility to work collaborativelyExpert at Google Suite, Microsoft OfficeExperience with Salesforce, Zenefits, Expensify, ADP, and willing to adapt to new technologies and manage processes Willingness to adapt to new technologiesSolid experience in reportingExperience in managing vendors and working with auditorsAble to interact with staff at all levels including explaining financial concepts to non-finance staffStrong attention to detail and follow up skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
