Every day, our employees do the cant be done, solving the most daunting challenges facing our customers.ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking a UI Designer with agile methodology experience to join our BEAGLE (Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading-Edge Information Technology) Agile Solution Factory (ASF) Team supporting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client located in Ashburn, VA.As a member of the BEAGLE ASF Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the Americanpeople and enhancing the Nations safety, security, and prosperity. CBP agents and officers are on the front lines, everyday, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection intoone coordinated and supportive activity.Serve as an Agile Scrum team member providing UI/UX design and development for the delivery of releasable software in short sprint cycles. Responsible for activities associated with software projects by working in close collaboration with business analysts, software developers/engineers, stakeholders, and end users within Agile processes.Responsible for:Conceptualizing and designing custom software application capabilities for a variety of legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight.Lead the design of a cohesive look-and-feel and standardized user experience across the applications.Taking a leadership role in collaborations between the creative strategy, UX, visual design, development team, and client to create effective design strategies.Developing compelling, creative, and user-focused experiences and points of view that align with clients business objectivesCollaborating with cross discipline team to create and execute experience style guides, interaction patterns, and information design standardsDevelop wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes supporting design ideas and effectively communicate ideas to various stakeholders.Establish standard layout and style libraries across applications.Work closely the functional team to determine feasibility of requirements and collaborate on design ideas and improvements.Ensuring product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives, and providing periodic performance reportsProviding mentoring to junior members of the team.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:5 years' experience with a Bachelors degree; 3 years' with a Masters degree- - A solid portfolio of web and application design is required. An online portfolio demonstrating sample work must be included with the application/resume.Solid understanding of Accessibility (Section 508 Compliance)Experience working with front-end development frameworks (eg, Angular/React, NodeJS, and Bootstrap)Extensive experience designing web application interfaces in an agile environmentKnowledge and adoption of UX industry best practices, including user-centered design methodologiesStrong visual and interaction design proficiency, as well as a superior understanding of current front-end coding practicesStrong design fundamentals including information design, interaction design, visual design, industry UX/UI standards across platforms, and UX best practicesExperience in user research, user interface design, information architecture, usability testing, human factors, and other related disciplinesSolid experience developing JavaScript, both with and without frameworksDemonstrated proficiency with industry standard design tools (eg, Adobe Photoshop, et. al)Proficient use of common rapid prototyping tools (eg, Axure Pro, Balsamiq, et. al)Good written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong listening skillsMust have an active or be able to obtain a DHS/CBP security clearance prior to startMust be a US CitizenPreferred Qualifications:Active CBP ClearanceOutstanding communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skillsAspiration to stay on top of cutting edge hardware, software, and interaction design as it applies to the industryAwareness of new trends in interactive design, development, and digital platformsWorking knowledge of the US Digital Services PlaybookAdvanced experience working with Bootstrap, JavaScript, Angular, React, NodeJS, responsive web design and development, and native mobile developmentAdvanced knowledge of usability, accessibility (Section 508 Compliance), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and other standard best practicesFor Colorado ResidentsColorado Salary Minimum: $66,123.20Colorado Salary Maximum:$141,336.00The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
