Please make sure work history and education are added correctly.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Research Specialist IV for our Insourcing Solutions site in Bethesda, MD.The responsibilities related to the Research Specialist IV are:Perform immunohistochemistry and cell culture techniques.Work with mouse or zebrafish models as appropriate to include colony management, setting up breeding pairs, euthanasia, and tissue/sample retrieval and advanced techniques.Writing technical reports, authoring manuscripts, contributing to grant applications.Organize and store all research data, maintain and update all laboratory protocols, assist in the preparation of posters and slides for presentation and manuscripts for publication, assist in the development of new tests and proceduresProvide technical support for the lab in accordance with specific protocols.Provide technical support. Maintain accurate detailed records utilizing computer databases as required by Institute, facility, and/or Investigator.Trouble shoot routine technical problemsRepair certain mechanical malfunctions when possible and perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.Operate complex laboratory equipment. Serves as a reference for the laboratory on specialized techniques and procedures.Collect and analyze data for preparation of manuscripts.Design procedures and projects and develop or apply appropriate techniques to the support those projects.Keep daily organized, accurate and detailed records of lab work and experiments. Identify potential problems in recording, storage and retrieval of information.Actively interact with customers and lab users as required to solve requests, inquiries, and complaints and to provide technical assistance.Photocopy, fax, and file paperwork as needed.Prepare and submit written reports, charts, logs, technical operational sheets, and inventories as requested by Supervisor.Share responsibility for laboratory housekeepingEnsure that the lab and its equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Maintain and operate equipment and use supplies according to SOPs and safety guidelines.Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. Ensure appropriate inventory levels of expendable supplies.Assist with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories.Job Qualifications Education: BS required. MS or Ph.D. preferred Experience: Ten or more years of experience working in an animal research environment using molecular and cell culture techniques. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.Certification/Licensure: None required.IMPORTANT: A resume is required to be considered for this position.
