We operate in a fast-paced environment that, while in operation for over 30 years, maintains an entrepreneurial spirit and a "can do"A' attitude.Job PurposeBioIVT is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our New York finance department to assist with the preparation and filing of non-income tax returns for several legal entities. We are a leading global provider of high-quality biological specimens and value-added services. We specialize in control and disease state samples including human and animal tissues, cell products, blood, and other biofluids. The Tax Accountant will report directly to the Senior Director, Global Finance.Duties and responsibilitiesReconciliation of monthly sales per the general ledger to the Avalara tax reportsMaintain current tax rules in Avalara and enter new rules as requiredMaintain/obtain sales tax exemption certificates ensuring all exempt customers are in compliance with exemption certificates on file. Obtain renewals where appropriateWork with IT to set up new stat codesReconcile the sales tax liability account on each company.Register in states where we have sales tax nexus and obtain sales tax certificateInvestigate customer inquiries regarding sales tax discrepanciesWork with outside sales tax specialists on new rulings, compliance and other tax related issuesPrepare property tax returns filings, maintaining full support for entriesPrepare gross receipts and other non-income tax return filings, maintaining full support for entriesRespond to notices from tax authoritiesMake quarterly estimated income tax paymentsMaintain log of all due dates of returns, date prepared, and date paidLiaise with CSC for annual report/franchise tax filingsLiaise with external tax accountantsApply for business licenses where necessaryLiaise on VAT filings for foreign entitiesThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet our on-going needs.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting/TaxationMaster's degree in Taxation preferred3-5 years of prior related experience in a public or private settingExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong analytical and research skillsSolid organizational skills especially ability to meet filing deadlines and focus on detailsAbility to multitask while working independently or with others in a fast-paced environmentIntermediate to advanced knowledge of Nexus rules and regulations, and other non-income tax filingsAbility to research, interpret and apply sales and other non-income tax lawsProficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookYou are a team player.
