As a result, we are always looking for proactive and mission-driven fundraisers with an established track record of increasing philanthropic support.The American Red Cross is looking for a Full Time Donor Researcher to support our Fundraising team. This position can be located inside the United States.For those candidates located in Colorado, the salary range for this position is: $79,000- $86,000 annually.Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the job or employee resides. We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location.Job Summary:The Development Research team provides consistently high-quality research and data to Development units across the organization in support of their fundraising goals. The Sr. Researcher identifies, analyzes, and reports on donors and prospects to help develop cultivation and solicitation strategies. This role includes utilizing quantitative criteria to evaluate prospects' capacity and propensity for supporting Red Cross initiatives and establishing research methodologies and data gathering formats.Principal ResponsibilitiesConducts research on donors and prospects; examines and evaluates data to create reports; and evaluates capacity and interest to support Red Cross initiatives.Extracts and communicates key information regarding donor interests, relationships, capacity and other areas that inform cultivation and solicitation strategies.Designs effective search strategies based on variable search protocols to identify/qualify corporate, foundation and individual gift prospects by using database services (Salesforce, iWave, Foundation Directory Online, RelSci, Lexis-Nexis, etc.)Composes documents (such as profiles, bios, summaries) using style, grammar and content appropriate for the request and audience.Consistently produces high quality deliverables and turnaround deadlines for requested reports.Secondary ResponsibilitiesAnalyzes and assesses information from local, national and international resources; financial and philanthropy reports; references (print and electronic); and American Red Cross files to determine financial capacity and philanthropic interests.Obtains and interprets detailed financial and legal disclosures including corporate reports (10K, proxy statements); foundation tax reports (IRS 990-PF); and state, county and court documents (corporate records, assessment records, probate cases). Translates complex financial, legal and corporate language into lay terms.Uses the Salesforce database to store and retrieve prospect information, as well as to manage research requests.Provides a high level of customer service and responsiveness to national, regional, and chapter team members in support of their research needs.Provides consultative services on research methodologies and resources as needed. Prepares related training materials for national, regional and local staff.Leads and/or participates in virtual calls to answer questions and deliver training to team members across the country.Conducts specialized research projects (such as sphere of influence analyses, funding priority feasibility studies, regional and occupational analyses) as assigned.Scans the technological environment to identify existing and emerging information systems/resources; assesses benefits of the aforementioned. Implements selected new systems to increase the department's efficiency, effectiveness and value to Red Cross fundraisingMaintains research resources on the Development department's intranet.Performs related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Marketing, or related fieldExperience: Minimum 5 to 7 years requiredEssential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.Apply now!
