We invite you to explore opportunities with Cubic.Job Details:Job Summary: Develop and maintain all aspects of the Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions Rugged IoT (CMPS RIoT) electrical product build, continuous product improvements, design for manufacturing improvements, build and product electrical documentation, and product sustainment. Mentor and monitor manufacturing assembly and test staff and advise assemblers, testers, engineers, and managers on all aspects of the electrical product and manufacturing domain. Performs complex test electrical engineering assignments following designated standards and procedures. Works closely with other engineering disciplines. Duties require application of engineering principles and techniques. Performs various professional factory, field, and office engineering work related to product development, transition to production, full rate production support, and product line close out. Provides technical support to the Production floor, Purchasing, Suppliers, and Engineering. May provide training and/or technical and function direction to manufacturing labor as well as technical support staff and related departments. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Design:Performs electrical and electronics design and design modifications for product sustainment and product prototype test fixtures.Conducts or participates in research, design, development, testing, and product sustainment of digital and analog hardware to include circuit design and sub-system integration for designated products and/or customer applications.Assists in preparing engineering design specifications.Assists in engineering drawing and specification inputs.Assists in the preparation of specifications and assessment of vendor products.Designs electronic breadboard systems or circuit concepts to improve performance, reliability, yield, test replacement parts, or to lower costs.Specifies materials, equipment, and supplies.Modifies existing engineering designs.Creates or modifies schematics of electrical and electronics design.Develops logic flowcharts and block diagrams.Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.Conducts in-house design reviews and technical meetings.Test:Develops test boards and test fixtures for circuit, component, subsystem, and equipment interfacesGenerates Production Acceptance Test (PAT) procedure and implementation.Writes test procedures and reports.Test designs of digital and analog circuits, components, and subsystems.Provides test points input in concurrent engineering design activities to ensure testability of critical assemblies prior to and during product assembly.Recommends test control, strategies, apparatus, and equipment.Assesses the severity of problems, determines corrective action, resolves technical problems, performs fault isolation, and implements solutions.Conducts or supports prototype tests and reviews findings with engineering.Log, compile and evaluate engineering data.Analyzes equipment to establish operating data.Support prototype construction, debug, and tests.Provides clarification and manufacturing electrical input to engineering design documentation.Supports on-site test installation activities at contract manufacturer.Support discussions and problem solving with contract manufacturers.General:Manages schedule for electrical engineering tasks.Monitors project status and progress.Applies and maintains quality standards.Demonstrates commitment to company values, ethics, safety, security, labor charging, and quality.Complies with Cubic policies and procedures and help updates them as design, build, and test methods are improved.Complies with Cubic's Quality Management System.Complies with Cubic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.Complies with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organization.Other duties as requested.Minimum Job Requirements: Four-year college degree in electrical engineering or science discipline plus a minimum of two years of related experience or an applicable Master of Science degree. Desired experience in designing, developing, and testing hardware. Desired experience in producibility engineering/design engineering in an electro-mechanical environment. Effective written and oral communication skills. Able to use typical office automation products such as word processing and spreadsheet programs. Mental ability to perform analytical work. Ability to prioritize work, complete multiple tasks and work under deadlines. Good interpersonal skills and be able to successfully work within a team. May be required to travel domestically and internationally and work odd hours, in-line with customer requirements. Strong technical problem-solving skills required to work closely with engineering, manufacturing and procurement personnel in cohesive manner to support project requirements. Strong commitment to efficiently achieve high quality results is required.Skills/Experience/KnowledgeEssential Experience designing and reviewing printed circuit board designs for manufacturability using PCB design tools such as Altium, PADS, or ORCAD. Certifications a plus.Able to debug, perform measurements, and tests at module, subassembly, assembly, and component level to assess electrical or manufacturing problems and identify corrective action.Experience identifying, researching, and approving requests for alternate components for end of life components in designs used in austere environments.Able to define and perform tests and verifications of new and existing designs.Ability to test and document new products and clearly communicate design improvements.Able to program and flash ICs.Experience and understanding of applying electrical theory to designs, debug, and test.Strongly DesiredExperience designing high speed (+300Mbps) digital circuit boards, AC/DC and DC/DC power supply boards for custom communications systems (typically less than 1,000W), connector boards (board interconnect and external output), cables (power and signals including twisted-pair cables, shielded and unshielded used for Ethernet, serial, video), and flexible PCBs.Experience simulating and analyzing PCB designs for signal integrity, power integrity, and electrical design rule checking using tools such as Hyperlynx SI/PI/DRC toolset.Experience working with/designing for IEEE 1149.1 and 1149.6 Boundary Scan testing for JTAG (Joint Test Action Group).Ability to write/modify scripts in support of testing/programming efforts such as visual basic, power shell, and linux shell scripts.Experience with design/debug/test of FPGA/Microcontroller circuits.Experience with cabling design for signals including twisted-pair cables, shielded and unshielded.Experience with MIL-STDs 461 and 464 (Electromagnetic Interference and Electromagnetic Compatibility), MIL-STD-1275 for design and testing, and IPC-600, 610, 620 for production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies.Experience reviewing and dispositioning of non-conforming material.Experience manufacturing rugged communication, computer, or power designs used in austere environments.Experience manufacturing electronic products for system level Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).Experience with an enterprise level Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system such as Aras or Windchill.Experience with major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP.Experience with maintaining configurations between ERP and PLM toolsets.Experience manufacturing to RoHS compliance.Bonus PointsExperience with JTAG Boundary Scan software such as Corelis ScanExpress.Experience working with issue tracking tool such as JIRA for task management.Experience manufacturing in an ISO 9001 environment.Experience with software programming using languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, VBS, YAML.Experience with VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL) programming on FPGAs such as Microsemi FPGAs.Experience with basic networking concepts: Cisco CLI, intermediate use of Linux, managing small to medium sized networks.
