Technical Designer - Labs, Science and Mission Critical - Mid Level
Your Role As a Gensler Mid Level Technical Designer in our Baltimore office, you will join our team of design thinkers and doers who specialize in helping to tell stories and create experiences in the context of Labs and Science and Mission Critical spaces. Your will have a technical understanding for planning and design that will make a difference in the work of our clients. If you have an interest mission critical and labs & science planning expertise to solve complex problems and create effective and well-designed environments, then this role will be a good fit for you. Previous expertise is not required, but it is a plus.You will collaborate with a highly, creative team of architects and designers dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence in lab planning. With you as part of the design team, architecture has never been so engaging. You will leverage your technical acumen and Revit skills to drive client projects from concept through build in a collaborative team. Obtaining your architecture license and registration should be a part of your current professional development plan and achieved in the near future.What You Will DoDocumentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)Coordinate with the project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultantsResolve complex technical and design issues with team to produceinnovative, technical, constructible solutionsDirect production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasksResponsible for delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical qualityContribute to the maintenance and oversight of the project manual and specificationsConduct on-site observations and document site reviewsProcess submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIsInterface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the projectActively participate and contribute to the financial performance of projectReview and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Design ManagerContribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programsEstablish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationshipsYour QualificationsBachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school5-7 years as a Technical DesignerLabs & Sciences/Mission Critical experience are a plus, but not requiredMust be highly proficient in 2D & 3D modeling software, such as Revit, Enscape & Sketch Up. Also needs to be proficient in Bluebeam Revu & Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and MS OfficeDesired but not necessary: Autocad, V-Ray, Octane, 3D Viz, 3D MAX, & Fenestra Pro, Climate Studio.LEED AP preferred; Future plans as Registered ArchitectWorking knowledge of building codes, standards and building structuresFlexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of developmentA quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentCollaborative and team-consciousMust have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through successful project deliveryPlease submit resume and work samples for consideration.
