Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide.Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies,all over the world.The Engineering Technician will be responsible for maintaining and updating the master utility plans, facility documents, record drawings, and space survey of the medical center to assure an accurate and up-to-date document of using service assignment, room numbers, size, layout, and function.This requirement will be supporting Maryland's Veteran Affairs Medical Centers and Maryland's Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS) projects in various Maryland sites. This position is contingent on the award of the task order.Key responsibilities:Maintains all facility master floor plans by utilizing AutoCAD drafting and editing techniquesCompile data from a variety of sources and field verifies in order to accurately digitize changes to the existing floor plansInputs new utility and project drawings from sketches and drawings prepared by the incumbent or by othersMaintains the Facility Space Survey computer database contained in the VISTA/VA FILEMANIdentifies and field verify a variety of space characteristics required for a complete and accurate database, and updates accordinglyUpdates and maintains the space assignments in drawings and provides accurate data for recurring Capital Asset Inventory (CAI) reporting requirementsManages the Facility Building Service Equipment InventoryPerforms surveys of the facility and records necessary information regarding building service equipmentCoordinates with Construction and Maintenance & Operations staff to incorporate updates to the equipment database as new building service equipment is installed, including but not limited to the following: acquisition, maintenance, and parts/ordering informationPrepare plans, specifications, and estimates for various projects, which include multi-disciplinary architectural, fire and safety, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, telecommunication, analog and digital electronics, and hazardous material abatement designAdministers A/E contracts to ensure A/E conformance to project scope and design criteria, while also ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality of the design workServes as the OSHA certified "Competent Person" to ensure construction work areas and practices are managed in accordance with the safety standardsProtects the interest of the government by mitigating design and construction errors, omissions, oversight, and fraud, as well as fire and safety issuesPerforms field investigations to gain first-hand knowledge and to gather architectural and engineering data necessary to document conditions for design, construction, and engineering recordsPerforms other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.Qualifications To be successful in the role:Associates degree or graduate from an accredited Technical School in engineering and or certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies or High School Diploma with 4 years professional experience working with AutoCAD and draftingMust have experience working in Veterans Affairs Hospital or any healthcare facilitiesComputer literate: Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCADStrong communications skills in English both written and oralMust lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)Planate Management Group is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status, andwill not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.Why Planate?Joining the Planate team opens you to an experience working for a Global company where you are among a team that is considered a premier trusted partner for planning, design, engineering, asset management, and professional service solutions anytime, anywhere.
