Job DescriptionSystems EngineerJob Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Systems Engineer for a contract position in Reston, VA. Opportunity will be six months with a strong chance for a long-term extension.Position Summary:Be a part of the team that is passionate about infrastructure, architecture, and platform management. The Systems Engineers will ensure products have well established processes, CI/CD, secure configurations, accurate documentation, and a customer focused roadmap. Working in our group, you will be responsible for a wide range of leading edge technologies and hardware to deliver outstanding performance to our customers.This position includes participation in a primary on-call rotation. Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Perform daily operations support functions, including problem isolation and resolution Provide technical leadership in the areas of operational process and change management Coordinate with other technical staff to implement high quality architecturally sounds systems and software, aligned with the business need Acquire thorough understanding of client's applications and operational environments Document processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans Regular report progress to Management Our ideal candidate will have a strong technical and organization skills, be able to thrive in a team environment, and be a self-starter able to multi-task in this multifaceted operations group. We need effective communicators who can work within a matrixed environment and represent client's effectively to customers and other external resources. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of experience administering systems in a production operations environment Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent Unix OS Experience supporting Unix OS level configurations for enterprise networking Proficiency with Unix utilities and scripting (Perl, Python, shell, GoLang, etc) Experience with automating production processes and procedures Experience collaborating with peer groups such as QA, Development, Operations and Project Management Experience working in highly productive team environments employing agile practices Ansible, GitHub, Terraform, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes Experience documenting work tasks and changes in tools such as Jira and ServiceNow Experience with Private Cloud (OpenStack) environments and Cloud-native application architectures A high level of technical skills and experience is essential for success.
