Network Deployment EngineerReston, VA [Sunset Hills Rd]TheNetwork Deployment Engineer is a member of the Site Survey workstream,responsible for the intake, scheduling, coordination, and execution of all sitesurveys. As a member of the site deployment team, the Network DeploymentEngineer is responsible for the design and execution of all customer siteinstallations following the findings from the site survey. They will work withstakeholders to design the network infrastructure, taking pre-existing systemsinto consideration, generate bill of materials (BOM), coordinate equipmentordering and execute local installation and configuration.This person can reside near an airport, position requires up to 75% travel. Telework when not traveling.Job Responsibilities* Deployment andconfiguration of Local Area Network (LAN) hardware & Wide Area Network (WAN)integration* Perform installationof LAN and endpoints to site* Inventory siteinstallation package and provide report to the PMO representative* Validation andexecution of site survey following prescribed checklist, including but notlimited to the evaluation of existing network infrastructure and inventory ofWAN circuit/connectivity* Train local customers on operational basics * Determines requirements of large-scale networks/systems. * Plans, designs and develops complex local area networks (LANs) and wide areanetworks (WANs). * Plans and oversees installation of computer networks such as local areanetworks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and otherdata communications systems. * Plans and oversees installation of server hardware and softwareinfrastructure. * Designs, deploys, and troubleshoots large-scale network deployments andoversees mid and small-scale network deployments. * Develops, designs, and plans for installation and maintenance oftelecommunications systems from project inception to conclusion. * Investigates and analyzes resource utilization and prepares high-levelreports and metrics, making appropriate changes to optimize the networkinfrastructure and provide the highest possible level of performance andsecurity. * Configures networking hardware to latest industry and manufacturer standardsand best practices. * Configures hardware and software for the user environment. * Analyzes documentation and recommends improvements and changes to methods andprocedures. * Recommends new software and hardware that provide new features/functions. * Plans and oversees testing to ensure the proper working condition andsecurity of developed and purchased network systems. * Builds, supports and maintains the protection of company data and systemsthrough the use of security solutions, backups, redundancy and disasterrecovery solutions.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, orrelated field or equivalent experience. Master's Degree preferred.3+ years' experience inNetwork Operations10+ years of experience in network administration.TS/SCI* Working knowledge ofenterprise network gear including routers, switches, and load balancers * Demonstratedexperience diagnosing/debugging faults in complex services or distributedsystems * Working knowledge ofenterprise routing protocols and IP subnetting * Experience usingcommon diagnostic tools like Netmon, WinDBG and Wireshark * Able to diagnose andmitigate faults * Able to identify anddrive recovery levers with feature teams * Able to communicateeffectively through written and oral English * Able to interact withexternal customers and partners on behalf of Microsoft* Ability to performwork under continuous deadline pressure* Ability to executework with precision in time sensitive outage scenarios* Effectivelycommunicate status changes to impactCertifications/Licensure CompTIA Network+ and/or * CCNA or CCNP certification preferred.Preferred Specific Skills* Recommended to have completed undergraduate Computer Sciencedegree or apprenticeship degree* Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (eg DNS, FTP, SSH, ACL,VLAN, DMZ, BGP), general networking technologies, network architecture andconnectivity troubleshooting* Experience or exposure to a hosting providers, online services,or internet service provider environment is preferred.
