Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD 21287 Shift: Full Time (40 hours) Day Shift: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Exempt Position Summary: Reporting to the JHH Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, this position is the primary person responsible for preparation of the annual budget, use of the decision support tool to support budgeting and flex variance analysis, unit cost analysis, financial analysis and planning related to operating performance. This position will provide leadership and support to budgeting, monthly financial statement preparation and variance analysis and financial planning activities. The Director works with the Office of the CFO to assist in financial analyses to support the management's change-based decision making needs in diagnosing operating activities, business trends and events, providing focused analytical data to assist in optimizing market position and efficiency. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the team works collaboratively with the JHHS/JHM Budget, Revenue & Compliance and Business Development groups to ensure that all interdependent factors are considered. Duties include the reconciliation of all costs associated with the relationship to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (SOM), accounted for through the Joint Administrative Agreement (JAA) and the Shared Mission agreements. Education: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance required. Master's preferred, but can be offset with equivalent experience. Work Experience: Requires in depth knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles, operating expense budgeting, and annual operating plan development as would be obtained from ten to fifteen years of progressively more responsible related experience. Requires at least five (5) years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment. Licensure/Certification: MBA or CPA required Knowledge/Skills: Requires a comprehensive understanding of all financial planning procedures and systems; high levels of proficiency in the finance/accounting area; and comprehensive understanding of the healthcare industry as normally acquired during ten to fifteen years of progressively more responsible related experience. Requires a high level of analytical skills, budget development and problem resolution requiring use of a professional level of knowledge of management and finance principles. Requires a substantial level of interpersonal skills to be able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization and to regularly interact in discussions and meetings to provide financial information and advice to management and other staff. Requires management ability to plan and direct the work of subordinate professional and support staff involved in financial planning activities as acquired through prior management experience.
