POSITION SUMMARY:A Clinical Laboratory Associate II is responsible for processing patient samples in a clinical laboratory setting. This is a laboratory-based position performing clinical testing on a routine basis with relatively high throughput (3-10 plates per day). The Clinical Laboratory Associate II is expected to adhere to all standard operating procedures and clinical laboratory policies established to comply with relevant regulatory requirements (eg, CLIA, CAP).DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Receive, inspect, accession and handle clinical samples according to established procedures.* Perform pre-analytical processing and analytical testing of samples according to clinical requisitionso Complete documentation/LIMS entry associated with specified testing procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory records* Analyze data utilizing validated analytical procedureso Verify the accuracy and validity of data; correct any errorso Document and report any out-of-specification results, or deviations from protocolo Present laboratory management with summaries of troubleshooting efforts and conclusions* Organize and procure reagents, perform experiments, and analyze data for acceptance testing of critical materials* Participate in general lab maintenance initiatives including maintaining laboratory supplies and equipmento Log associated maintenance activities in accordance with documented requirementso Maintain electronic inventory databases, physical inventory and records of processing/aliquoting/vialing/labeling materials* Utilize self-reliance in understanding and adhering to laboratory safety precautions and proper use of personal protective equipmento Projects may require running assays with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) samples such as human serum and plasmao Personnel should feel comfortable handling or being trained to handle BSL-2 samples and work in a Biological Safety Cabineto The incumbent is also expected to monitor the behaviors of others within the laboratory setting and provide guidance on best practices* Incumbents may be required to develop and implement SOPs as well as participate as a team member in developing new documentation for the departmentEXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree in life sciences or other related area is requiredo Master's degree is preferredo Additional experience may be substituted for Master's degree* A minimum of 2 years of experience in a services organization and preferably in a clinical testing laboratory, contract research organization, or other regulated environment* Training in and experience with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) techniques is highly preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Demonstrate the ability to execute assays in a high-throughput environment with a focus on high-quality results.* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with personnel at all levelso Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of laboratory datao Effectively communicate performance goals and expectations* Proficiency in MS Office suite; familiarity with electronic file management using SharePoint (end user minimum) and MS Excel is necessary* Ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding environment with changing prioritiesPHYSICAL DEMANDS:* Up to 60 % of the day may be spent at a lab bench, and may involve repetitive tasks (eg, pipetting)* Work is performed during regular work hours, but may require evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines.* Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.* Personal protective equipment worn frequently (lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves).WORK ENVIRONMENT:* Laboratory environment working with chemical reagents and performing some Biosafety Level 2 worko May involve handling of BSL-2
