DescriptionAre you looking to work on complex challenges by applying advanced systems engineering and development principles in a digital environment? Are you an "end-to-end systems thinker" with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience who is looking to have an impact on our Navy's defense programs? Are you searching for a collaborative, diverse work environment where you can innovate and apply state-of-the-art systems engineering practices to cutting-edge programs? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!We are seeking Systems Engineers who are proficient in MBSE methodologies and tools to support the definition and acquisition of new or evolving Navy programs through a digital engineering environment. Selected candidates will work on a diverse team which includes APL and government laboratory technical subject matter experts, government sponsors and operational Navy personnel to plan, analyze, and design naval tactical systems to solve critical mission needs and provide impactful systems. Analyze and study complex operational and mission needs. Explore and decompose high-level mission needs into functional and architectural models of a system. Work with the government team to develop and validate system requirements Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate mission and warfighter needs into technical specifications. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of operational and warfighter requirements into total systems solutions that incorporates technical, schedule, and cost constraints. QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have a Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or other engineering discipline. Have 3+ years of professional experience in systems engineering and/or MBSE experience Have experience in early concept development, developing system requirements, performing functional analysis and allocation, and conducting trade studies in support of the design, development, and evaluation of complex systems. Have a strong understanding of how system requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities are enabled by MBSE across the engineering lifecycle Have experience with the application of SysML and UML and applying this common structure to an MBSE solution using MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, or Rhapsody. Have experience using and/or writing custom scripts and/or plug-ins for MagicDraw modeling software and DOORS requirements software.
