Communications Systems Engineer
DescriptionDo you have experience with communication systems and networking engineering? As a Communications Systems Engineer, you will Contribute to the research and development of breakthroughs in the field of wireless communications. Identify appropriate approaches and algorithms for solving critical communications problems, as well as developing innovative solutions through advanced techniques across all system layers from physical to application. Conduct communication systems engineering functions, including development of system requirements, architecture, design, prototyping, test, and evaluation. Leverage technologies including, but not limited to wired, wireless (RF & optical), line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) links, SATCOM, IP networking, Information Assurance, cyber, RF systems and circuit design, protocols, software defined radio (SDR), stealth waveforms, 5G cellular and cognitive radio. Support research, development, implementation and testing of prototype and operational systems, while working closely with government sponsors to ensure mission success. QualificationsYou meet the minimum qualifications for this position if you have: A MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline. 10+ years of related professional experience in commercial and/or government communications and network systems engineering. Demonstrated ability to deliver results when working independently or as a member of a larger project team. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Some local travel to sponsor sites may be required. Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. 15+ years of related professional experience in commercial and/or government communication and network systems engineering. Current knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community, sponsors, and programs. Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and present effective technical reports/briefings and project status reports for sponsors. Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor junior technical staff. Ability to propose, organize and execute internal research and development projects (IRAD). Ability to build internal technical relationships with other APL organizations and with sponsors. Experience with analysis of alternatives (AoA), trade studies, and similar efforts to support sponsor programs. Proven track record of external technical publications and/or patents. Current TS/SCI w/ Poly clearance.
