Grants and Programs CoordinatorThe George Mason University, Department of English is seeking a financial services specialist (Grants and Programs Coordinator) to provide grants and budget support for programs and individual faculty Principal Investigators. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Process, track and reconcile all financial transactions and budgetary commitments for assigned grants and orgs;Recommend action and provide intervention on account discrepancies; Maintain spreadsheets for tracking all grants and assigned department accounts;Maintain and update fiscal files to meet audit requirements;Act as liaison to the CHSS Budget Office, General Accounting, Purchasing, and the Office of Sponsored Programs; andProvide support for Principal Investigators, Watershed Lit Center Program Directors, Office Manager, and Department Chair.Required Qualifications:Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication;Motivated self-starter;Ability to work in a team environment;Prior experience with fiscal processing;Knowledge of budget and fiscal practices supporting an academic department, including purchasing, invoice payments, reimbursements;Ability to accurately record, process and reconcile fiscal transactions;Ability to effectively utilize and navigate databases and spreadsheets;Ability to seek information independently and remain current on all Mason procurement policies and processes; andProactive and detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize time sensitive tasks with a high level of accuracy. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in an academic unit within a university setting;Prior experience with sponsored funding and/or reconciliations;Prior experience with university systems;Prior knowledge of university fiscal policies;Experience and familiarity working with P-card, eVA, MicroStrategy, and Ellucian Banner; andPrior grant management experience is a plus.
