The Washington Post's SaaS Billing team is hiring for a Billing Analyst to develop and maintain billing and accounts receivable processes for our Zeus Technology product. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and use those as a framework to create processes and procedures for Zeus accounts.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle billing and accounts receivable processes for SaaS Revenue
- Review and analyze customer contracts, process all sales orders in billing and invoicing systems, and post cash receipts and follow-up on collections issues
- Evaluate, prioritize, and resolve inbound customer queries
- Engage with multiple internal teams to efficiently and accurately invoice customers
- Invoice customer for monthly subscription, support fees, and revenue share fees
- Generate credit memos, process write-offs, and prepare pro-forma invoices when necessary
- Research and solve payment discrepancies and adjust customer accounts as needed
- Evaluate current process flows and streamline billing processes to drive efficiency and accuracy
- Prepare month-end and quarter-end accounting close entries and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate documentation of business processes
- Assist with annual financial audit by providing AR confirmations and documented support
- Bill service hours of the engineering team and expenses; support the Finance department in meeting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting deadlines
- Support internal business partners by meeting monthly to review revenue reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience; SaaS Revenue Billing experience is a plus
- Knowledge of accounting principles, media and technology industry, technical aspects of billing in bandwidths, and technical language in contracts; including SaaS agreements are preferred
- Ability to handle multiple enterprise systems to complete the billing and revenue recognition process
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills - Including use of advanced formulas and pivot tables; previous experience with Invoice and Billing Systems preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and with a team; effectively interact with employees, including leadership, and clients in a professional deadline-driven environment
- Salesforce experience is a plus
- Strong organization and communication skills
