Duties

  • Ensures that all collected data meets quality requirements before turn-in. Responsible for making sure all project information is set up prior to field work.
  • Able to adapt to changing conditions and goals, ability to adapt as the requirements on any given day can be subject to changes.
  • Collects hydrographic data with field surveys using state of the art equipment and gear utilizing hydrographic and GPS knowledge.
  • Leads a crew in the field for work with minimal supervision often in remote locations. In charge of a Corps vessel and all associated crew for the period of work.

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver?s License.
  • The duties of this position require Travel up to approximately 75% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a USACE Motorboat Operators License.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) at all times while working on open floating plant decks.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Education and/ or Experience Required:

GS-9 Specialized Experience:

One year experience that include the following: 1). Working in land/hydrographic surveying, drafting, field data collection and principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; 2).. Experience leading field crews in survey work. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and that was performed at a level equivalent to a GS-08 in Federal service.

OR:

Education:

Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

GS-10 Specialized Experience:
One year experience that included the following: 1) Working in land/hydrographic surveying, drafting, field data collection and principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; 2). Experience leading field crews in survey work with minimal supervision, able to set up projects from start to finish with little input from supervisors or higher graded personnel. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and that was performed at a level equivalent to a GS-09 in Federal service

GS-9: $61,947 to $80,532
GS-10: $68,217 to $88,684
