Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Ability to don a respirator correctly.
  • Installing AC units used to condition the air in warehouses, shops, hospitals, and large office buildings including areas that have special Requirements such as communication centers, computer rooms, laboratories, and other areas with sensitive equipment.
  • Installing repairs and maintain remote AC systems, water coolers, packaged self-contained AC units, walk-in and reach-in refrigerators, ice makers, and ventilation and exhaust fans.
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air-condition(AC), cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repairs.
  • Incumbent interpret complex blueprints and specifications and furnish technical details.
  • Dismantling, repairs, and reassembling units such as compression, chillers, receivers, and evaporators.
  • Makes repairs and may perform some installation of existing pumps and condensing units, pressure sensors, visual inspection.
  • Performing Test and Balance (TAB) on ventilation systems utilizing flow hoods to ensure systems meet requirements.
  • The ability to follow local and national safety rules and guidelines, which includes efficient use of all specialized tools used in the HVAC trade such as, measuring equipment(refrigeration gauge, electrical meters, air measuring devices), and any other specialized tools unique to the HVAC trade.
NOTE: Incumbent in this position maybe subject to placement in the asbestos medical surveillance program.


The work requires you to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is be required. Must provide a copy.

This position requires a Universal Certification for servicing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment (EPA 40 CFR)

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 0700 - 1530. Must have the flexibility to work outside the normal tour of duty which may include weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements: Frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds. Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing such items as large compressors. Makes repairs that involve frequently hard to reach places that require scaffolding. Long periods of stooping, stretching, bending and kneeling.
