HVAC Refrigerant Piping Mechanic
POSITION SUMMARYWill be directly responsible for and have experience with layout and installation of HVAC refrigerant piping systems and maintaining the overall responsibility of a refrigerant piping project from installation through start-up.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSRead and understand blueprints to perform necessary workPerform takeoff of necessary materialsBraze and solder HVAC refrigerant piping systemsPressure test and evacuate HVAC refrigerant piping systemsReclaim and charge refrigerantInstall hangersInsulate HVAC refrigerant pipingProvide early operations of the start-up process including some basic HVAC system controls understandingMaintain a complete set of toolsADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for company assets used on job siteMake purchases at local supply houses following Company procedureHold a valid driver licenseOther duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEJourneyman HVAC licenseCFC UniversalsMinimum 5+ years of commercial HVAC refrigerant layout and piping experience at a Journeyman's levelExtensive HVAC equipment installation experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESStrong understanding of refrigerant systems brazing and soldering requirements and techniques.Basic knowledge of refrigerant pipe sizing requirements.Able to run projects.Knowledge of tools and equipment needed to complete a jobAbility to pass a sample braze test, if requiredAble to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documentsAble to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches to problemsPHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTSMust have the ability to lift up to 60 poundsSpend long periods of time standingAbility to climb ladders to perform workWork in high elevationsWORKING CONDITIONSPeriodic travel to multiple job locationsMay be subjected to inclement weather and hazardous working conditionsWork weekend or night-time duty, as neededNOTEThis job description describes the reporting relationship, the essential functions of the job (duties/tasks/responsibilities), and additional job requirements including: education/experience, knowledge/skills/abilities and physical/mental job requirements.
