Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer (3) / Sr. Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer (4) for our Elkton, Maryland locations.The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA. The San Jose facility specializes in motion control systems and the design and development of prototype control components such as electromechanical actuators, control electronics, and embedded software and firmware.Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Description:Northrop Grumman is seeking a Power Electronics Design Engineer to develop electronics for motion control system applications based on specifications and goal"A' oriented objectives. This position is responsible for the design, development, creation and modification of electrical schematics, PWB layouts, and electrical analysis. Scope of responsibility also includes verification of CCA designs and compliance to system level requirements and validation at the system level. Coordinates with members of multi"A' functional teams to develop innovative solutions for implementation of electrical design with the greater electro-mechanical and propulsion system.This position can be filled at either the Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer (3) / Sr. Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer (4) level, depending on years of experience and qualifications.Basic Qualifications Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer (3):Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience; or 4 years professional experience with a related Master's degree or PhD in Engineering.Experience with power circuit design and analysis of switching power supplies, three phase inverters, DC/DC converters.Experience working with 3-Phase Brushless DC Torque Motor drives and associated Power ElectronicsExperience implementing electrical designs using Mentor Graphics and familiarity with IPC-2221 and IPC-2222 design guidelinesExperience with EMI design and test practices and familiarity with MIL-STD-461 and 462Experience working in a cross functional environment (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, test engineering, production engineering, etc.) to translate customer requirements and functional block diagrams into realized Circuit Card Assemblies.Proven ability to define development test plans and methods to ensure a robust design is achieved and validates the design against customer, internal and regulatory / government requirements.Strong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.Is able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Comfortable in a fast paced, rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.Is able to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional team members.
